“We loved our visit to Southwold and felt very comfortable staying at Driftwood.”

Loved the decor and facilities. Everything was clean and tidy and still felt very homely. We did use the pull out bed and found the mattress cover, pillow and duvet, however, no linen was provided. Luckily we had a sleeping bag in the car. Just wanted to note that the stairs are steep to the bedrooms.

The property

The property is entered through the hallway, which is shared with the ground floor apartment, and up a flight of carpeted stairs. The stylish kitchen, living room, study, bathroom and separate cloakroom sit on this first floor, with both bedroom up the next flight of stairs. The large master bedroom sits at the front with a king size bedroom and twin bedroom sits quietly at the back with a view over the rooftops. Outside there's an enclosed shared courtyard with table and chairs at the back of the apartment; a flight of stairs leads to this and has a little-gated platform at the top which has an amazing view of roof and treetops - a great place for a sundowner! There's on-road unrestricted parking at the front on Stradbroke Road. Ground Floor The property is entered in through a hallway which is shared with the ground floor apartment; both have their own front door and Driftwood is up a flight of stairs. First Floor A carpeted landing gives access to the living room, kitchen/breakfast room and study, with a step down to a smaller landing with bathroom, separate cloakroom and door to the roof terrace. Living Room This stylish living room sits at the front and is beautifully furnished and decorated in a contemporary palette with two generous sofas, footstool, coffee table, bookcase well stocked for your enjoyment, and attractive fireplace. For your entertainment, there's a flat screen TV, Sony DVD player, an iPod docking station. Kitchen/Breakfast Room The sunny kitchen has a fridge/freezer, electric range-style cooker with ceramic hob and separate oven & grill, dishwasher, washer/dryer and a microwave. In the corner is a glass-topped round table with wooden seating for four. Study Light streams in through the long sash window, making this a good place to sit quietly with a book, play a game or watch a DVD on the TV provided, or pull out the quality sofa-bed and make this into a third bedroom rather than two people sharing the twin. Bathroom The bathroom has a bath with a shower and handbasin. The W.C. is conveniently in a separate room next to the bathroom. Second Floor A flight of narrow carpeted stairs takes you up to both bedrooms on the second floor. Master Bedroom This large bedroom sits at the front of the house, with a sitting area by the window, a comfortable king-size bed, and ample storage in the wardrobe with set of drawers for storage. Twin Bedroom The twin bedroom is quietly at the back, overlooking rooftops, with two single beds, a compact wardrobe/chest of drawers for storage, with additional storage provided in the eaves cupboard with a clothes rail. Outside In front of the property is on-road unrestricted parking and guests can enjoy the sea air in the courtyard at the back which (shared with the ground floor flat) accessed via the property's rear door in the lobby and down the external staircase, where there's a wooden table, chairs and a BBQ. There are also two directors chairs stored in the lobby, which you can use on the little 'roof terrace' to soak up the evening sun! Driftwood is located just above Spindrift (sleeps 2), so guests can book both properties for a party size of 6.
