The door mat, on entering the cottage was disgusting, flithy dirty, we walked into the lounge to find the curtain track above the front door, had fallen off, which surely the cleaner must have known about. The door mat, on entering the cottage was disgusting, flithy dirty, we walked into the lounge to find the curtain track above the front door, had fallen off, which surely the cleaner must have known about. The pull cord switch in the downstairs bathroom, the cord is very dirty. The towel rail in the downstairs bathroom needed a good clean.The bed in the main bedroom is not particularly comfortable, as the floor slopes for right to left, the bed needs levelling up. There is no mention that the stairs are steep and the landing is very narrow, with a step down and step up to get to the upstairs toilet which is very small. This cottage would not be good for elderly people. Finally the downstairs could do with re decorating it looks tired, paint chipped of in many places. So do not understand at all your rating. Its good and could be very good, with a bit more attention to detail.
We are sorry to hear that 17 South Green was not up to your expectations. Our cleaning team have looked after our cottage for a long time, and comments are usually very favourable. We apologise for the condition of the doormat, it has been a long and wet winter and the cottage has had a lot of use. A replacement doormat and pull cord have been arranged following your comment, thank you for pointing this out. We spoke to the cleaners about the curtain rail, and there was not an obvious issue with it when they were in the cottage.
We do point out in the description that it is an old property with a narrow staircase and no handrail, which may be a problem for some people.
We do have an ongoing redecoration programme, in fact decorators will be at the property later this month, because the cottage has a high frequency of bookings it is prone to wear and tear damage which it is not possible to address before every guest visit.
