Oak Cottage is a charming countryside retreat nestled in the picturesque model village of Somerleyton, Suffolk, just a short drive from the coast. With ample parking for up to four cars and welcoming two well-behaved pets, this delightful abode is perfect for families or groups of friends seeking a serene getaway.
The property boasts a spacious kitchen/dining room on the ground floor, along with two living rooms, one with a log burner and ground floor shower room. Upstairs are four bedrooms, one with an ensuite, then a family bathroom with freestanding bath and a shower room. There is a spacious garden with large seating area and Barbecue to the rear, perfect for enjoying the sunshine. At the front there is another patio area, meadow flower lawn and parking for three to four cars as well as a EV charging point.
Entering into the hallway, there is a seating area with plenty of storage for coats and shoes.
Snug
Original floors lead you to the first living room, with a 3 seater sofa that can be opened into a king sized sofa bed providing additional sleeping space. An armchair to the side, and a smart TV making it the perfect space for a movie night.
Kitchen/ Diner
The hallway continues leading you to the kitchen and dining room, there is a large wooden dining table with seating for up to 10 guests. Opposite the dining room is the well equipped kitchen perfect for the chef of the group with integrated appliances, including a fridge freezer and dishwasher. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of storage, a large electric range cooker, Nespresso Creatista Uno coffee machine, kettle, microwave and toaster.
Sitting Room
A stunning space with a curved ceiling with light flowing in from all angles, there are two doors leading to either the rear or front of the house. In the corner is a log burner to enjoy in those winter months. There are two sofas, a window bench seat and an egg swing seat.
Ground floor bathroom
Stylish bathroom featuring walk in shower with rainfall shower head as well as a hand held shower attachment, WC and wash basin.
Partially carpeted stairs with a handrail lead you to the first floor landing.
Family Bathroom
Off the top of the stairs is a bright and luxurious bathroom featuring a free standing bath, wash basin and WC.
Bedroom1
Featuring a comfortable double bed, dressing table with chair. Bedside wall lamps and space for hanging clothes.
Shower room and Utility
Spacious bathroom with a walk in shower, WC and wash basin. This space doubles up as the utility room too with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Bedroom 2
Full sized twin beds are situated in this room, there is a chest of drawers for your belongings and hooks on the wall providing further space for your clothes.
Bedroom 3
Beautifully presented bedroom with a double bed, bedside tables, bedside wall lamps with views over the garden. There is hanging space providing storage for your belongings.
Bedroom 4
At the end of the hallway is the master bedroom, featuring a king sized bed, bedside wall lights and a large wardrobe perfect to store your belongings.
Ensuite
Ensuite featuring a walk in shower with rainfall shower head as well as hand held attachment. There is also a WC and wash basin.
Outside
To the front of the property is the expansive meadow flower lawn, as well as a patio with furniture, this makes the perfect place to relax whilst enjoying the beautiful garden.
To the rear of the property, there is a second patio area with furniture and a BBQ so you can make the most of the sunshine and outdoor space.
There is parking for 3 or 4 cars as well as an electric vehicle charging point.
You can stay local and enjoy the excellent food and hospitality in the village pub The Duke’s Head, or try your luck in the maze in the gardens of Somerleyton Hall followed by tea and cake in The Greenhouse café. Why not grab an ice cream from Somerleyton Cycles just metres away in the village, and visitors to Oak Cottage will also be able to book tables at the exclusive Fritton Arms restaurant just 3 miles away, which is usually only open to members.
Venture out by car or by train from Somerleyton Station to explore the local area, starting with a visit to Lowestoft Ness Point, the most easterly point of the British Isles, before delving into the region's maritime history at the Lowestoft Maritime Museum. Enjoy a day of sandcastle building and sunbathing at South Beach, or take a leisurely stroll along The South Pier, boasting stunning sea views. The stunning city of Norwich is just 30 minutes away by car or train.
Gorleston Beach, voted as 12th best in the world in the 2023 Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice Awards, is less than 20 minutes drive away
For a fun-filled family day out, Pleasurewood Hills Family Theme Park is just a short drive away, offering thrilling rides and attractions to suit all ages. Alternatively, head to Great Yarmouth Beach for a traditional day at the seaside, complete with donkey rides and a bustling promenade. Before returning to your home-from-home, you could step back in time with a visit to the National Trust's Elizabethan House Museum.
A handful of other National Trust sites are within easy reach, including the stunning nature reserve, windmill and seal sanctuary at Horsey Gap.
You can also easily access both the north Norfolk coast and the Suffolk Heritage coast towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh for day trips as well as the famous Norfolk Broads.
