“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, a very comfortable cottage with lots of lovely original features, well equipped kitchen, including laundry tabs, washing up liquid, cloths, etc (not everywhere provides these), comfortable double bed, great shower, wonderful bathtub, fabulous location.”

The welcome pack was much appreciated too, thank you. The heating was incredibly effective, so much so that we had to turn down some radiators! But it did make it cosy to come into after a day out. My only comments for the owner's attention are relatively minor: - Instructions for TV appear to be out of date, we managed to get it going but might be worth updating those - External trim at base of shower looks worn, may need re-sealing A wonderful cottage however, we've stayed in many ...

The property

This tastefully restored lovely seaside cottage is ideal for a family getaway. You could not be better located for all of Aldeburgh's facilities, with walks from your doorstep the family will love. A spacious cottage with dining room, sitting room, kitchen and patio at your disposal. Ideal for families with one king and one twin size bedroom. Plus the large family bathroom and en-suite shower room to the main bedroom mean you have all the comforts of home whilst on holiday. Sandpiper Cottage is hugely charming and has been featured in House Beautiful magazine. The period property has been through an exacting period renovation – fire places have been uncovered, beautiful panelled walls rediscovered, the walls painted in natural lime-washed paints, sash windows restored, and all finished off with the best of contemporary furniture, art and design! On the ground floor is a living room with a powerful wood-burning stove, a large kitchen with large patio doors leading outside to a small decked area with a table and chairs, a dining room and and outside utility room. Upstairs there are two bedrooms (1 king, 1 twin), each with it's own bath or shower room. The ceilings are high in all of the rooms. Ground Floor Dining Room The panelled front door leads into the dining room with an original open fire (not in use), traditionally oiled floor boards, original wall panelling, a smoky black glass dining table with seating for four people and a glass side table with candles on it for atmospheric dining. Living Room A door from the dining room leads into a stylish living room with charcoal grey sofa and armchair, dark glass coffee tables, white painted floor boards, a 32" flat screen TV, DVD player and Ipod docker and wifi access. The focal point is a wood-burning stove, ideal for winter breaks spent reading or watching DVDs in front of this lovely fire. Kitchen The living room leads to a large kitchen with large glass patio doors leading out to a small decked patio. The fitted kitchen was handmade by local joiners and painted in Farrow and Ball paint to compliment the terracotta floor tiles. There's a large range-style cooker with a 5 ring gas hob and electric oven, a dishwasher, fridge, microwave and extractor fan. A washing machine can be found in the utility room accessed over the small decked patio. First Floor Stairs with a handrail lead up to a small landing with access to: Bedroom One A stylish room dressed in off-white and deep red colours for a restful sleep. There's a king-size handmade oak bed made by a local craftsman, a silk ‘Romo’ roman blind, original pine floorboards and open fire (not in use), bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a built-in wardrobe. En-Suite Shower Room A large shower with white and grey-blue tiles and white painted floorboards, w.c. and hand basin. Bedroom Two A twin bedroom in grey-blue and off-white colours with original floorboards and natural coir rug, an open fire (not in use), bedside table, and a built-in wardrobe. Bathroom This room has a deep free-standing Victoria and Albert claw-foot bath, w.c. and hand basin, original floorboards and lovely painted wall panelling. Outside The patio doors in the kitchen lead out to a small courtyard, nestled in the gap between neighbouring cottages, with bin storage. (The next door neighbour has a right of access over the yard although this is rarely used.) There's a utility room out here which houses the gas central heating boiler and a washing machine. On-road parking usually available in nearby side streets.

About the location

ALDEBURGH

Thorpeness 2.1 miles; Saxmundham 7.2 miles.

The popular, vibrant seaside town of Aldeburgh is famous for its culture, traditional feel and one of the best fish and chip shops in the country! Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings are home to one of the world’s greatest music festivals and has been named as one of the top 50 places to live in Britain. Crag Path runs along the seafront dividing the beautiful pebbly beach from the unspoilt pastel-coloured seafront properties and the town. The beach is a popular place for groups and couples to enjoy the wonderful fish and chips throughout the summer months. The town is steeped in history and has become a wonderful town for shopping with a good mixture of independent and chain stores to enjoy. The town also offers a good selection of pubs and restaurants or why not buy some freshly caught fish from the huts on the seafront and cook up your own feast at home. For those wishing for a more action-packed holiday there is excellent walking, cycling, sailing and golf at Aldeburgh. Growing in popularity you will want to return to Aldeburgh again and again!
