Casterton “This was our second stay in Mariners Cottage.”
We had liked it last year and thought we’d come back in the hope the bathroom, which was the only disappointment last year, would have improved. As last year, the whole house was very pleasant, except for the somewhat neglected feel of the bathroom. Towels & bedding are of a high standard, cleanliness throughout was good (except for the bathroom floor) and the kitchen equipment adequate for a holiday stay. We are always taking our guests suggestions in a positive way. This winter we have refurbished the bathroom and added extra coat hooks . The Wifi code is located on the back of the router and is also in our Best of Suffolk folder. The modern kitchen is equipped a Combi-oven , microwave and traditional electric oven with grill. The boiler has been checked by Wooster Bosch and the issues have been resolved . As a regular visitor we hope will enjoy the changes during your next stay in May . Property Owner

The property
Guests are welcomed into the spacious and beautifully furnished living/family room at the front, with the kitchen and dining rooms at the back, both with double doors to the garden – ideal for outdoor living! Two bedrooms sit on the first floor, one with a zip and link super king bed and the other with twin beds, both with easy access to the large family bathroom with the added bonus of a separate toilet off the landing. The outdoor space is exceptional at this self-catering holiday cottage which is set back from King Street with a wicker fence hiding a secluded east facing courtyard where you can enjoy morning coffee in the sunshine. The rear walled garden is an oasis of calm in the heart of this bustling seaside town, equipped with a table, chairs and BBQ so you can dine at home in comfort. King Street runs parallel to the high street and Crag Path with unrestricted off-road parking outside the fence on a first-come basis; the large Fort Green car park is just a short walk away if you're unlucky. Ground Floor The front door opens from the courtyard into the living space, with folding doors to give the option of a spacious living room or two more private areas. The rooms flow around the house with the living area leading to the kitchen, through to the dining room and back into the family room. There are slate tiles throughout the ground floor with underfloor heating. Living/Family Room The front door of this gorgeous cottage opens directly into the spacious and versatile living space; divided into two with folding doors so you can relax in the living area whilst others are watching TV in the family room, or socialise between the two. Furnishings include a couple of large modern leather sofas with comfortable chairs, occasional tables and a TV unit for your entertainment. Kitchen This room, sitting between the dining room, living room and garden, is equipped with an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, under counter fridge and freezer. The doors to the garden make it ideal for dining in the fresh air. First Floor Wooden stairs rise from the living room to the first-floor landing which is split level and the bedrooms, bathroom and cloakroom open off it. Both bedrooms have wood floors and there’s a step into the bathroom, which has a tiled floor. Master Bedroom The super king size zip and link bed takes pride of place in this east facing bedroom which has bedside drawers, a built in wardrobe, plenty of shelves stacked with books for you to enjoy and a wicker chair. Twin Bedroom This room, overlooking King Street, is beautifully decorated in soft tones, furnished with twin beds, bedside drawers, a large built-in wardrobe and shelves. Bathroom A large bathroom with feature claw foot bath plus a huge shower cubicle, wash basin, WC, heated towel rail and natural light from the glass in the fire door which opens onto a Juliette balcony. Cloakroom An added bonus conveniently off the landing; an additional WC with wash-basin, plus washing machine. Outside Mariners has two courtyard style gardens – a great asset in Aldeburgh! A high wicker fence completely shields the cottage from the road with steps down to the east facing courtyard, bordered by lavendar and hydrangea with a door into the house. At the back, with double doors from both the dining room and kitchen, is a fully enclosed and private walled west facing courtyard, furnished with table, chairs, parasol and charcoal BBQ. There’s unrestricted roadside parking directly outside the cottage on a first come basis so you may be lucky; alternatively there are plenty of car parks close by and you can by a pass for a week at Fort Green car park.

About the location
ALDEBURGH
Thorpeness 2.1 miles; Saxmundham 7.2 miles.
The popular, vibrant seaside town of Aldeburgh is famous for its culture, traditional feel and one of the best fish and chip shops in the country! Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings are home to one of the world’s greatest music festivals and has been named as one of the top 50 places to live in Britain. Crag Path runs along the seafront dividing the beautiful pebbly beach from the unspoilt pastel-coloured seafront properties and the town. The beach is a popular place for groups and couples to enjoy the wonderful fish and chips throughout the summer months. The town is steeped in history and has become a wonderful town for shopping with a good mixture of independent and chain stores to enjoy. The town also offers a good selection of pubs and restaurants or why not buy some freshly caught fish from the huts on the seafront and cook up your own feast at home. For those wishing for a more action-packed holiday there is excellent walking, cycling, sailing and golf at Aldeburgh. Growing in popularity you will want to return to Aldeburgh again and again!
