  • Paul

“We were very pleased with the quality of furnishings and equipment.”

The cottage was also very clean. For two there was plenty of room but it would have been a squeeze for four adults. Second bedroom was tight. We enjoyed the artwork. Excellent location.

The property

A large living room at the front has a wood burner to keep you warm in the winter months and the kitchen/breakfast room at the back is well equipped for dining at home. The layout on the first floor is ideal for families and friends with a bathroom sitting between both the big master bedroom with views down the high street and the twin overlooking the courtyard; with an additional cloakroom off the landing. The charming L shaped courtyard at the back is an added bonus; a great place to relax, perhaps with fish and chips from the famous Aldeburgh chip shop directly opposite. There’s restricted roadside parking close to the cottage and the large Fort Green car park close by; you can purchase a ticket for the week from the Council. Ground Floor The front door opens into a hall with the stairs ahead, living room and kitchen/breakfast room to the left and a second door to the courtyard garden. There are hard floors other than the living room and stairs which are carpeted; and internal steps between the hall, living room and kitchen/breakfast room. Kitchen/Breakfast Room This modern double aspect kitchen/breakfast room has a large window overlooking the courtyard and a smaller one at the side of the house. Units sit on two sides, housing a double oven, ceramic four ring hob with extractor, dishwasher, and a washing machine with a free-standing large fridge/freezer with three drawers and microwave. A table and four chairs sit by the window. Living Room A big room sitting at the front of the house with L shaped sofa for you to relax and enjoy playing one of the games provided, watch the flat-screen TV or DVD (a player provided and selection of DVDs) and enjoy the warmth from the wood burner. There’s also an armchair and nest of tables. First Floor Carpeted stairs with handrail rise to the first floor split level landing. There’s a cloakroom on the lower level and step up to the twin and master bedrooms, both carpeted; the bathroom sits between . Master Bedroom Lovely light room with one large double glazed window overlooking the high street and another giving a great view towards Slaughden at the far end of town. This room’s furnished with a king-size bed, bedside drawers and large mirror; there’s bags of storage in a built in wardrobe with hangers and shelves, plus a chest of drawers. Bathroom A bright family bathroom with bath, hand shower on an adjustable post with shower door, wash basin, WC, heated towel rail and window giving natural light. Both the twin and master bedrooms have doors to the bathroom giving them both, effectively, an en suite and there are looks on the bathroom side of both rooms for privacy. Twin Bedroom Another good sized bedroom with pretty ornamental fireplace, sitting quietly at the back overlooking the courtyard. Sturdy twin beds sit to either side of a bedside unit with a drawer and there’s a built in wardrobe with drawers and hanging space. Outside This spacious holiday cottage is in a prominent position in the town, directly opposite the famous Aldeburgh fish and chip shop. The front door opens off the pavement and a side gate leads into the L shaped fully enclosed paved courtyard/garden, a great place for leaving beach gear and/or bikes. The door opens from there into the hallway, with the kitchen conveniently straight ahead, making it easy to serve meals in the sea air with a wrought iron table and chairs provided.

About the location

ALDEBURGH

Thorpeness 2.1 miles; Saxmundham 7.2 miles.

The popular, vibrant seaside town of Aldeburgh is famous for its culture, traditional feel and one of the best fish and chip shops in the country! Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings are home to one of the world’s greatest music festivals and has been named as one of the top 50 places to live in Britain. Crag Path runs along the seafront dividing the beautiful pebbly beach from the unspoilt pastel-coloured seafront properties and the town. The beach is a popular place for groups and couples to enjoy the wonderful fish and chips throughout the summer months. The town is steeped in history and has become a wonderful town for shopping with a good mixture of independent and chain stores to enjoy. The town also offers a good selection of pubs and restaurants or why not buy some freshly caught fish from the huts on the seafront and cook up your own feast at home. For those wishing for a more action-packed holiday there is excellent walking, cycling, sailing and golf at Aldeburgh. Growing in popularity you will want to return to Aldeburgh again and again!
