Shell Cottage is a delightful period cottage on Aldeburgh High Street, ideal for those wishing to be close to the town’s excellent shops, cafes and restaurants and the beach. The accommodation is set out on two floors – on the ground floor is a large open plan living/dining room with a wood burning stove, a shower room, a kitchen and a small patio beyond.
Upstairs there’s a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a single bedroom and a bathroom. The cottage is decorated throughout in light blues and beiges that create a restful environment.
Ground floor:
Open plan living/dining room: The front door leads into a large living/dining room with pine floor boards and a rug. The living area has two brown leather sofas (a 2-seater and a 3-seater), a wood burning stove, flat screen TV with FreeSat channels, DVD/CD player, and a stereo with an Ipod docker. There is a good selection of books and DVDs for you to enjoy during your stay. The dining area has a large granite topped oak dining table and seating for six people and a lovely enlarged photo of the sun rising over the sea at Aldeburgh on the wall.
Hallway: A small hallway beyond the living room leads to the kitchen, shower room and stairs to the first floor.
Kitchen: The kitchen has beautiful handmade kitchen units, a gas hob and electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge and freezer (tucked under the stairs). A stable door leads out to a small patio area with table and chairs.
Shower room: This contemporary styled room has a large shower, hand basin, w.c. and heated towel rail.
1st Floor: A small landing leads to three bedrooms and a bathroom.
Bedroom 1: This twin bedroom has a wardrobe with drawers and bedside tables. There are period pine floorboards and a large rug.
Bedroom 2: A double bedroom with a chest of drawers and built-in wardrobe, with pine floorboards and a large rug.
Bedroom 3: This bedroom has a single bed, a bedside table and a wardrobe, with pine floorboards and a rug.
Bathroom: The contemporary tiled bathroom has a ¾ length bath, a hand basin, w.c., and a heated towel rail.
Outside: The cottage has a very small patio with a table and chairs at the back of the property, reached through the kitchen. On-road parking is usually available in nearby side streets.
About the area
This holiday cottage accommodation is located towards the North end of Aldeburgh’s popular High Street, near to renowned The Lighthouse restaurant. The beach, as well as Aldeburgh’s shops, pubs and restaurants are all a short stroll away.
What's included?
All prices include 100% cotton bed linen and towels, gas and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.
The property is equipped with gas central heating, a wood burning stove in the living room, flat screen TV with FreeSat channels, DVD/CD player, stereo with Ipod docker, gas hob and electric oven, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave and washing machine. A travel cot is available on request.
Sorry no pets, smoking or unaccompanied teenagers permitted at the property.
Tariff
£470- £950 a week depending on the time of year. Shorter breaks are available when there is late availability – please check the online calendar for details.

3. How to pay. When you have filled out your booking form you can choose to pay online by credit or debit card or send a cheque. A 25% deposit is requested at the time of your booking. The balance and a £100 returnable good housekeeping deposit (subject to terms and conditions) are due six weeks before your holiday commences. Please note there is a 1.5% charge for credit card payments. There is no charge for debit card or cheque payments.
