About the property

This lovely little cottage has recently been renovated to a high standard with contemporary furnishings, giving it a stylish “cosmopolitan by the sea-side” feel. The cottage is ideal for a couple or a family with up to two small children.

The house has painted panelled walls downstairs and wooden floorboards and wooden window shutters throughout and is situated just a few minutes walk from Aldeburgh’s wonderful High Street and beach. Farrow and Ball and Fired Earth paints have been used on the walls and floors.

Downstairs the cottage has a spacious open plan layout with areas for seating, dining and cooking.  Upstairs there is a double bedroom, a children’s bunk bed room and a small shower room.  Outside there is a good-sized and sunny courtyard patio with a table and chairs and space to keep your bicycles.

Ground Floor:

The front door leads into an open plan living area which accommodates seating, dining and kitchen facilities.

Living area: there’s a large leather sofa and two leather bean bags, a large feature mirror, flat screen TV, DVD player with DVDs, and wireless broadband. There are sketches by Craig Hanna (winner of a National portrait award 2001) and Vic Reeves.

Dining/kitchen area: There’s a reclaimed painted dining table and four antique church chairs. The kitchen area is small but well-equipped, including a Corian work surface, electric Smeg hob and oven, a tall fridge-freezer hidden away behind wooden panelling, a built-in Microwave, bread-maker, a juicer, a blender and lots of cookery books.

Outbuilding: just outside the back door is an outbuilding which houses a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

First floor:

Stairs from the open plan area have hand printed tromp d’oiel wallpaper by Deborah Bowness and lead up to a small first floor landing with access to:

Master bedroom: A double bedroom with a built in wardrobe and floor to ceiling shelves. There’s a book shelf with a good range of books for you to borrow during your stay.

Bunk bed room: A small room with fitted children’s bunk beds to sleep two small children (the top bunk is 185 cm long, bottom bunk is 163cm long). There are some hooks on the wall for clothes storage and drawers beneath the bottom bed.

Shower room: This compact room has a shower, w.c. and hand basin.

Outside:

Outside there is a patio courtyard to the rear of the house. There is a right of access over the courtyard to the back entrances of the neighbouring cottages. On-road parking is usually available in nearby side streets or in the church across the road for a contribution.
