Beech House Gite, Yoxford, Suffolk
Beech House Gite, where 1950’s design meets antique country French, offers stylish self-catering for two in the lovely Suffolk village of Yoxford. This holiday cottage is ideal for relaxed weekend retreats and longer stays spent exploring the Suffolk coast, from Southwold to Aldeburgh, and has wireless broadband access too.
Approached down a short single track lane, this lovely hideaway has a beautifully designed interior with several iconic designer pieces of furniture cleverly mixed with stylish pieces of antique furniture.
There’s an open plan living/kitchen/dining room, a bedroom with a super-king bed and a bathroom. Outside is a pretty courtyard garden with provencal inspired lines of lavender and two established olive trees. There are two small reflecting pools by the two areas of decking one with a fine antique garden bench. The south facing garden ensures you have sunshine well into the evening.
The front door leads into an entrance lobby with coat hooks and access to the three rooms:
The open plan living/kitchen/dining room: The living area has a large two seater sofa, a ‘Barcelona’ chair (designer by Mies van der Rohe), a coffee table, a flat screen TV, a DVD player, CD/radio player and glass patio doors to the courtyard. In the kitchen area there’s a scrubbed antique pine dining table with two metal Paris café chairs and a Conran painted bench, an electric hob and oven, slim-line dishwasher, a fridge with a small separate freezer above, and a washing/drying machine.
Bedroom: There are twin beds that are pushed together, antique painted pine wardrobe, an 8ft tall mirror, antque French chandelier, quirky bedside tables and patio doors onto a small decked area in the courtyard. The view up to the roof rafters from the bed is so good you may never want to get out of bed!
Bathroom: The bathroom has a bath with a hand-held shower attachment, sink and w.c.
Off-road parking is available on the lane.
About the area
This self-catering holiday cottage is located in the picturesque village of Yoxford where facilities include a village store and a post office that sells organic produce, two pubs, a couple of restaurants, art galleries and several antique shops. The cottage is down a pretty single track lane and occasional traffic noise can sometimes be heard. The lane leads to a network of footpaths, including one to the Yoxford Antiques Centre where you might find something special to buy and take back home with you.
The village is near the A12, making it an ideal base to explore the Suffolk Heritage Coast, from Southwold and Walberswick and Dunwich (15 mins) to Aldeburgh and Thorpeness (20 mins). Bicycles can usually be hired from nearby Darsham. The nearest train station is at Darsham (approx. 2 miles).
What’s included?
All prices include 100% cotton bed linen and towels, gas and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.
The accommodation is equipped with gas central heating, flat screen TV, DVD player, CD/radio player, electric hob and oven, microwave, slimline dishwasher, and a fridge with freezer compartment. The house has wireless broadband although please note that there is no helpline support for this.
Restrictions: This house is not suitable for babies or children. No smoking, pets or unaccompanied teenagers permitted at the property.
Tariff

3. How to pay. When you have filled out your booking form you can choose to pay online by credit or debit card or send a cheque. A 25% deposit is requested at the time of your booking. The balance and a £100 returnable good housekeeping deposit (subject to terms and conditions) are due six weeks before your holiday commences. Please note there is a 1.5% charge for credit card payments. There is no charge for debit card or cheque payments.
