Suffolk self-catering holiday accommodation near the beautiful river Deben in Woodbridge.

Deben Retreat is a substantial four bedroom family home situated close to the historic core of Woodbridge, one of East Suffolk’s most sought after and picturesque towns.  This property is ideal for a large family or friends coming together to enjoy the wide range of high quality restaurants, bars and cultural attractions within a short walk of the house.   

Just a short walk away and you are on the banks of the River Deben, with lovely walks up to the Tide MIll .

Guests can park on the large drive and enter the property to find the spacious sitting room, dining room, kitchen, and conservatory beyond.  The first floor has four two king-size bedrooms and two twin rooms, a shower room and a large bathroom.

GROUND FLOOR:  From Deben Road there is a long private drive up to a double door garage.  On the right is the front door to Deben Retreat which leads to a central hallway that connects the sitting room, dining room, kitchen, utility room, cloakroom and the stairs to the first floor.

SITTING ROOM: The sitting room has a large bay window and an open fire.  There is soft seating for eight a styish coffee table, and a 32-inch LCD TV is provided with FreeSat channels and a DVD player, Sirocco music system with internet radio, iPod dock and USB connectivity.

DINING ROOM:  This room has a table seating eight and a large dresser and an ornamental fireplace (not in use).

KITCHEN:  A fully equipped large kitchen with a gas range that has a four-ring hob, a grill plate, a plate warming area, a grill and a double oven – definitely the feature of the room.  There is a large American style fridge freezer with filtered water and ice making facility, dishwasher and a microwave.

CONSERVATORY:  Off of the kitchen is a light and bright conservatory situated in the pretty back garden. There is a dining table with space for eight, a perfect spot to enjoy breakfast. There is also a large comfy sofa in here, perfect to read a good book!

UTILITY ROOM:  In the utility room there is a sink and Bosch washing machine for your laundry needs.

CLOAK ROOM:  From the hallway and through a small boot room with a feature of the well in the floor, is a cloakroom with a hand basin and a W.C.

FIRST FLOOR:  From the ground floor hallway there is a curved set of stairs to the second floor landing which connects the four bedrooms, the shower room and bathroom.

BEDROOM 1:  This spacious room has a king-size bed and glimpses of the River Deben through trees.  There are matching bedside tables, a chest of drawers, an 18-inch LCD flat screen TV with FreeView channels and DVD player, a two-door wardrobe, and a dressing table.

BEDROOM 2:  A room with a king-size bed and glimpses of the River Deben through trees.  In the room there are matching bedside tables, a one-door wardrobe with a drawer, an 18-inch LCD flat screen TV with Freeview channels and DVD player, and a dressing table.

BEDROOM 3:  This twin room has two full sized single beds, two bedside tables, a dressing table, a 15-inch flat screen TV with Freeview channels, and a two door wardrobe.

BEDROOM 4: This small twin room has two full size single beds a window with glimpses of the River Deben through trees, a bedside table and a shelving unit.

SHOWER ROOM:  This room has a corner shower cubicle and a hand basin.

BATHROOM: This room has a power shower in a separate large shower cubicle, a corner bathtub with a hand held shower attachment, a hand basin and a W.C.

OUTSIDE:  There is a large garden with a table and chairs for eight and a BBQ.  There is plenty of off road parking on the drive in front of the storage garage or to the side of the house. There are garden loungers available for your use in the storage garage. Only a moment’s walk away is the River Deben where you can access the paths that lead up and down the pretty river scene.

This holiday home is located moments from the river in the town of Woodbridge on the Suffolk coast. 

The pretty and historic market town of Woodbridge is on the River Deben and has an excellent range of cafes, shops and restaurants all within a short walk of the cottage. Woodbridge railway station is a few minutes walk away. Explore the area with our 'top five' suggestions:

1. Take a stroll along the River Deben: watch the boats sail by, visit the town's famous Tide Mill and stop at The Waterfront Cafe for a well-earned cup of tea.

2. Explore 'Foodie' Woodbridge - there are some excellent pubs and restaurants and a Deli stocking some of the best of local produce in the area for you to enjoy back at the cottage. Our top recommendations for eating out are The Crown, The Anchor and The Galley.

3. There's a swimming pool, an independent cinema, and a cafe where you can paint ceramics whilst you lunch.

4. Take a drive down the Bawdsey Peninsular to Bawdsey Quay, at the mouth of the River Deben. Sit on the unspoilt small sandy beach and sunbathe or catch the foot and cycle ferry over the river to Felixstowe Ferry.

5. Visit Sutton Hoo, the fascinating historic burial ground of the Anglo-Saxon kings of East Anglia, owned by the National Trust.

All prices include 100% cotton bed linen, towels, heating and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.

The property is equipped with gas central heating and an open fire in the living room (a small basket of logs are supplied during the winter months). There is free WiFi at the property, four flat screen TVs with FreeView channels and DVD players, a CD player with an iPod docking station, a range that has a four-ring gas hob, a griddle plate, a plate warming area, an electric grill and double oven, a large american style fridge freezer with ice dispenserr, dishwasher, a microwave, a Bosch washing machine and a BBQ. The dining room and boot room have wooden flooring, the kitchen, shower room and cloakroom have tiled flooring, the conservatory has laminate flooring and the rest of the house is carpeted through out.

A travel cot, high chair and stairgate are available from the property owners on request at the time of booking.

Sorry, no smoking or unaccompanied teenagers permitted at the property.

A small well-behaved dog can often be accommodated on request at the time of booking on the booking form, must be restricted to the ground floor, and is subject to our terms and conditions. 

Please note that there is no W.C. in the shower room.  There are however two W.C.s at the property.

3. How to pay. When you have filled out your booking form you can choose to pay online by credit or debit card or send a cheque. A 25% deposit is requested at the time of your booking. The balance and a £100 returnable good housekeeping deposit (subject to terms and conditions) are due six weeks before your holiday commences. Please note there is a 1.5% charge for credit card payments. There is no charge for debit card or cheque payments.
